Skrill appoints new CEO
We are pleased to announce our new CEO for Skrill and NETELLER, Chirag Patel who replaces former Digital Wallets CEO, Lorenzo Pellegrino, who is stepping into a strategic advisory role for Skrill Limited.
Chirag brings over 20 years’ experience of working in payments for high profile, global organisations and joins Paysafe from Santander Group where he was the Global Head of Payments. Prior to this, Chirag was Amazon’s Head of Payments, Europe and International Expansion and has also held other senior executive roles in payments and financial services for other well-known financial institutions including Softcard (acquired by Google), American Express Services Europe Limited and Merchant Services Group Int.
Commenting on his appointment recently, Chirag said, “I am really excited to join the Paysafe team and be given the opportunity to lead its exciting Digital Wallets business. Paysafe acquire PagoEfectivo, SafetyPay and viafintech
Paysafe’s latest acquisitions announced in August 2021 enable the company to further scale in the high-growth Latin American region and accelerates Paysafe’s growth in Germany.

Paysafe signed a definitive agreement on 2nd August 2021 to acquire PagoEfectivo, a market-leading, Peruvian alternative payments (APM) platform. For Paysafe, this latest investment is a strategic foothold in Latin America, one of the world’s fastest-growing online markets where merchants and consumers alike are demonstrating an increased appetite for alternative payment methods and online banking solutions. Paysafe signed a definitive agreement on 22nd August 2021 to acquire viafintech, a market-leading German fintech company. viafintech, known under the brands of Barzahlen/viacash and viacash, offers the largest, bank independent, payments infrastructure in the DACH region, allowing a popular alternative to the traditional banking structure. For Paysafe, this latest acquisition not only boosts its growth opportunities in Germany, a critical market for its international merchants, it also creates revenue-generating opportunities to cross-sell viafintech’s alternative banking and payments solutions to its merchants around the world.
