Why can’t I update or verify my phone number?

You can only change and verify your registered phone number while logged in via a web browser.

You may encounter some challenges when updating or verifying your phone number. Here are the most common error messages and what to do if you see them:

There was a problem sending the verification SMS

This typically means that you already registered a Skrill account with this phone number.

Contact us via one of the available channels below so we can assist you with releasing your phone number for use with your active account.

We may ask you to confirm your ownership by providing us with a recent phone bill.

Something went wrong, please try again

This error usually means that you made too many unsuccessful attempts to enter the 6-digit verification code when verifying your number.

If this happens, wait 24 hours after your most recent attempt and try again.

Technical issues may sometimes prevent you from updating your personal details. If you experience such, refer to the troubleshooting steps in the related articles.

What should I do if I don’t receive the 6-digit code?

Depending on your enabled authentication methods, your 6-digit verification code will be sent to your registered phone number or primary email address. To update your authentication methods, go to Settings > Security > Authentication methods (available only on a web browser). If you don’t receive the code, select Send new code. If it still doesn’t arrive, restart the phone verification process and use the other available authentication option.
