Created in 2016 by Amir Bandeali and Will Warren, 0x is an open protocol designed to enable the decentralized exchange of tokens on the Ethereum network. This allows users to buy and sell tokens directly from their cryptocurrency wallet, without first having to deposit to an exchange. This removes reliance on centralised exchanges and puts more control in the hands of the user. The 0x protocol is a free infrastructure that can be used by businesses to create their own decentralized exchange (DEX). ZRX is the ERC20 token that powers the 0x protocol.
