Five transfer deals that you probably missed in January

There were a lot of high-profile transfers this season, but also some hidden gems. Sometimes during the transfer market, pivotal deals go under the radar, such as young talents or deals completed after a secret negotiation. Here are five transfer deals that you probably missed.

Anel Ahmedhozic to Bordeaux

This talented Bosnian defender signed on loan with a mandatory buy clause from Malmo. He was on the watchlist of many top clubs in Italy and England, and now has a great opportunity in Ligue 1 with Bordeaux.

David Neres to Shakhtar Donetsk

A surprising deal, as Shakhtar convinced the Brazilian to fly to Ukraine in a deal that exceeds €15m. Neres has received many proposals in the past, but has chosen a move to the Ukrainian club from Ajax.

Robin Gosens to Inter

A very underrated deal internationally but greatly celebrated in Italy. One of Europe's best left backs joined Inter for €25m – certainly a smart deal, as Inzaghi will now have a new fullback to count on.

Rafinha to Real Sociedad

Little has been said about this deal, as it was completed at the end of December, but the Spanish club has secured the Brazilian midfielder on loan from PSG. This is a good deal, as his international experience, quality and relative youth means he will make a great impact.

Sardar Azmoun to Bayer Leverkusen

Initially purchased as a forward for June 2022, Bayer have anticipated this deal in January and managed to find an agreement with Zenit St Petersburg. Azmoun is an excellent striker capable of scoring many goals and providing assists – he is one to watch.
