About Stellar
The Stellar network is an open network for storing and moving money, with the aim of enabling all the world’s financial systems to work together on a single network. Launched in 2014 and initially using the same protocol as Ripple, Stellar has grown into a massive force in the cryptocurrency space and partnered with some of the largest companies in the world, most notably IBM.
The Stellar Network has a native cryptocurrency, Lumens (XLM), that are required for creating accounts on the network and paying for transactions.
