In an exclusive Q&A with Skrill News, new AC Milan signing Brahim Diaz reveals…
- Why he chose the ‘legendary' Rossoneri
- What Zlatan Ibrahimovic is like as a mentor
- Life under manager Stefano Pioli
Brahim Diaz is one of the most exciting talents in European, if not world, football.
The 21 year old joined AC Milan on loan in the summer from La Liga champions, Real Madrid.
Full of prospect, ambition and newly-built confidence, the young Spaniard has scored one goal after featuring in five of six matches so far this season, of which the team has won all six.
The former Manchester City star is confident he can help Milan push for success this season having already found his feet in the Serie A.
Q. Hello Brahim, thank you for taking the time to talk to us today. Firstly, how are you enjoying your time at AC Milan, premium partners of Skrill, following your loan move from Real Madrid?
BD: I couldn’t have had a better welcome and a better start. My teammates welcomed me wonderfully, we get on really well and I hope we will continue like that, getting better every day. Usually it takes a while to adapt, but in my case, it was very fast. I am very happy, we are a healthy, ambitious and top-quality group. We want to do great things.
Q. You’ve said previously that you had a lot of offers from other clubs, why did you choose Milan?
BD: I chose AC Milan because it is a legendary club formed by people who do their best to make the club reach the position it deserves. It was easy to say yes to AC Milan.
Q. What would you like to achieve personally at Milan this season?
BD: On a personal level, I want to help the team achieve important goals. I want to put it all on the pitch and I want to do my very best for this club.
Q. You’ve been a big part of manager Stefano Pioli’s plans since joining. How have you found working with Mr Pioli and the rest of the team?
BD: I feel the trust of the coach, the club, the fans and this motivates me to always give my best. Pioli is a great coach who always tries to get the most out of every player. I personally work every day to be ready and give my contribution. I'm happy with what I'm doing but we must never stop working, the goal is always to improve.
Q. You were able to get on the scoresheet against Crotone last month, how did it feel to score your first competitive goal for the club?
BD: Clearly, I was very happy, but the most important thing was the win and the three points. The Serie A is a very tactical and physical championship, there aren’t many opportunities to score and when they happen you must be there, ready to finalise the team play.
Q. The team are unbeaten so far this season. What would you say has been the secret to the team’s success so far?
BD: The secret is the group. We are very close and we all want to do our best for a club that deserves to be at the top.
Q. Who are the big characters in the dressing room and how do they lift the team?
BD: As I said, our strength is the group. We are very fond of each other and this is the most important thing. All the teammates, starting from Zlatan Ibrahimovic, are passionate about performing well and winning all the time. This single-mindedness is also very clear among the younger footballers.
Q. You’ve played with some of the best players in the world at Manchester City and Real Madrid, how does Zlatan Ibrahimovic rank among them?
BD: A champion on and off the pitch. He helps us, speaks to us, supports us, one by one. He is a great man and he has given me great advice since I arrived. It is clear to everyone what a player he is. He continues to make a difference on the pitch.
